The North State Street Bridge over the Chicago River memorializes those who fought at Bataan and Corregidor in World War II. The original bridge on the site was built in 1864 but the modern bridge was renamed in 1949. In 1992 the bridge was rededicated to also honor all Filipino veterans who fought for their homeland during the war.
