This large black granite sculpture of a navy officer and enlisted man sits on the highest point overlooking Utah Beach and honors all U.S. navy personnel who participated in the Normandy landings in 1944. The main sculptural piece is surrounded by engraved, pentagon-shaped markers that list all of the various types of ships/units by name that participated in the landings. The Naval Order of the U.S. (a fraternal organization) raised the funds to build this beautiful and eye-catching memorial.
