This large equestrian statue on a marble base looks over Rome and commemorates the contributions of Giuseppe Garibaldi to the War for Italian Independence. It was built in 1895 to honor the fighting along this hill against French troops. It is based on a design by Emilio Gallori and has four smaller statues around the base depicting scenes from the fighting.
