This large modern memorial was dedicated in 1988 to the veterans of the War in Vietnam. The memorial is centered around a large steel sundial that casts its shadow on a flat plaza of inscribed tiles that give a history of the war by year along with individual names of Kentuckians who lost their lives in the fighting. The plaza is laid out in chronological order from 1962 to 1975. The memorial was designed by Helm Roberts who was chosen in a nationwide competition that sought to create a unique memorial to honor Kentucky’s Vietnam Veterans. The site provides a beautiful view overlooking the capitol. Coffee Tree Road, Frankfort, Kentucky
