This bronze statue honoring Major General John Sedgewick, class of 1837, who was killed at the Battle of Spotsylvania during the Civil War is constructed from bronze cannon tubes captured by his troops during the battle. Located on the parade grounds, the statue is considered to bring good luck to cadets who need help during examinations.
