This medium stone cone-shaped base has bronze soldier carrying a wounded comrade standing atop. Around the stone base are bronze plaques honoring the service branches and plaques listing the names of Delawareans who served in the war from each branch of the military. The statues, which were sculpted by Charles Cropper, express a sad dignity and struggle that reflects the memory of the war. The memorial was dedicated in 1983 in Brandywine Park.
