This 60 foot statue is one of the fines equestrian statues created and honors General Robert E. Lee. Lee sits astride his horse Traveler and faces south. On the sides of the base are simply etched “Lee”. This is the second statue along Monument Avenue as one enters the city from the West. It was sculpted by Jean Antoine Mercie.
