The marker is composed of five separate panels with names inscribed of veterans from the Blooming Grove area. Each panel has a different icon of the military services engraved at the top. The marker is located in a small park with memorials to Korea and Vietnam as well. There are also benches that have been sponsored by individual families to honor members of their families who have served in the military. One particularly poignant bench is dedicated to a marine who spent the entire period of World War II, 1941-1945, as a Japanese P.O.W. and then went on to serve in Korea as a civilian and then in the Texas State Guard during Vietnam.
