This polished black marble box honors the last shot that was taken by American troops during the war near Pilsen, Czechoslovakia on May 7, 1945. The memorial claims this shot was taken by PFC Dominic Mozzetta. The memorial contains he unit insignia and on top of the memorial is a sculpture of a World War II infantryman’s rifle. On the end is a simple inscription stating that it also “…honors all organizations of the Armed Services involved in bringing this conflict to an end.” On the reverse side is inscribed the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and a quote.
