var str = 'A large statue of piled rocks topped by a globe on which a spread-winged eagle lands honors those who gave their lives in the First World War. On the front of the memorial is a bronze plaque Honor Roll list of the forty-one servicemen from Calhoun County, Alabama who were killed during their service from 1917-1919. On the back side of the memorial is a small plaque referring to the Honor Roll for all Soldiers and Sailors from Calhoun County and indicates it was dedicated on Armistice Day 1921. The memorial sits on the island median of Quintard Avenue. The memorial was dedicated by the William Forney Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.';

var str = 'This beautiful cemetery is shaped in a half-circle with the roads between gravesites forming spoke-like shapes in the wheel. Spanish moss hangs majestically from the large trees that stand amongst the rows of headstones. The cemetery was established in 1863 during the U.S. Civil War and originally contained about 2800 remains of Union soldiers who died in nearby hospitals or military actions. One hundred and seventeen Confederate soldiers were also buried here. In 1989 nineteen Union African American soldiers who had fought with the famed 54th Massachusetts Regiment and whose remains had been found on nearby Folly Island in 1987 were re-interred here with full honors. The cemetery houses the remains of Medal of Honor recipient Private First Class Ralph H. Johnson and France Legion of Merit recipient Master Sergeant Joseph Simmons. And, Gerd Reussel, a German POW who had been aboard a German U-boat sunk off the coast of North Carolina was buried here when he died on the way to Charleston, South Carolina.';
